Mayor Don Walters announces the retirement of Community Development Director Diana Colavecchio and new appointments in the Community Development and Neighborhood Excellence teams.
After a distinguished public service career, Diana Colavecchio will retire from the City of Cuyahoga Falls effective January 31, 2026. Serving as Community Development Director since 2019, Colavecchio has played a vital role in advancing housing, neighborhood revitalization, and economic development projects that have strengthened the city and improved residents' quality of life.
“Diana has been a valuable leader and trusted member of my team,” said Mayor Don Walters. “Her commitment to growth, neighborhood stability, and resident service has made a lasting mark on Cuyahoga Falls. We thank her for her years of service and wish her a well-earned retirement.”
“I am incredibly proud of the work we have accomplished together for the City of Cuyahoga Falls,” said Colavecchio. “It has been an honor to serve this community together with such dedicated colleagues, and I am certain the department is in excellent hands.”
Mayor Walters has appointed Mary Spaugy as Community Development Director effective February 1, 2026, recognizing her effective leadership since joining as Deputy Director in 2019 and her success in overseeing housing, neighborhood reinvestment, and federal grant programs that have driven citywide growth.
"I am honored to serve Cuyahoga Falls residents in this new role," said Spaugy. "I look forward to building on our strong foundation and collaborating to support strong neighborhoods and economic opportunity."
Effective February 1, 2026, Carrie Snyder will become Deputy Director of Community Development. Snyder joined the City of Cuyahoga Falls in 2015. She currently leads the Neighborhood Excellence, Communications, and Community Outreach Department. In this role, she has guided citywide communications, resident engagement, and neighborhood programs, helping to strengthen connections between residents and City Hall.
On February 23, 2026, Morgan Ferrell will become Director of the Neighborhood Excellence, Communications, and Community Outreach Department, succeeding Snyder. Ferrell returns to the City after serving as Communications Director for the Summit County Fiscal Office.
