Application information for the American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) Scholarship Program is available through local High School Guidance Offices.
AMP has established this scholarship program to encourage high school students in member communities to further their education and to create an awareness of careers in the municipal electric utility field.
The Cuyahoga Falls Electric System (CFES) may nominate one candidate for the Lyle B. Wright Scholarship and one candidate for the Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship. High school seniors who will graduate in the spring, have met all the basic requirements for college or technical school and have a 3.0 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale are encouraged to contact their guidance counselors for an application and detailed eligibility information. The amount of these one-time scholarship awards is $3,000.
The Lyle B. Wright Scholarship is available to eligible students whose household is served by the Cuyahoga Falls Electric System. Students of parents or guardians employed by CFES or AMP are not eligible for this scholarship.
The Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship is available to eligible students whose parent or guardian is a Cuyahoga Falls Electric System employee, an AMP employee or an elected official of Cuyahoga Falls.
The student applicant must work with his/her Guidance Office to make sure that the following are submitted to the Cuyahoga Falls Electric System at 2550 Bailey Road by 5:00PM, Wednesday, December 11th, 2019:
- An offical transcripts showing student's cumulative high school grade point average for six semesters.
- The completed Cuyahoga Falls Electric System nomination application form (Lyle B. Wright or Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship).
- A letter of recommendation written by one of the student's teachers, guidance counselors or school administrators.
