On Monday, February 12, Cuyahoga Falls City Council confirmed Mayor Don Walters' appointment of Captain Christopher Norfolk as the city's next chief of police, effective March 1, 2024.

In January, Mayor Walters announced the planned retirement of Police Chief Jack Davis at the end of February after more than three decades with the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department and ten years as chief.

"Chief Davis has dedicated his professional life to protecting the residents of Cuyahoga Falls. On behalf of myself and our community, I thank him for his service," stated Mayor Walters. "When looking for the next leader of the department, I was impressed by Captain Norfolk's deeply held commitment to good policing, public safety, and service to our community. I am proud to have Chris join my leadership team as our new police chief."

Norfolk will be sworn in as the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department's 12th Chief of Police on Friday, March 1. Norfolk joined the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department in 2001 and has served as captain since 2020.

"I am humbled and grateful that God has given me the opportunity to lead the men and women of the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department," stated Norfolk. "I want to thank City Council, Mayor Walters, and his senior cabinet for their support and vision for the future of the police department. I look forward to getting to work and continuing the outstanding service our department is known for while looking for opportunities to grow and improve as we serve the residents and guests of our amazing city."

In addition to 22 years with the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department, Norfolk received a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Akron, attended the Public Safety Leadership Academy at the Ohio State University, the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Leadership series, and the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police Executive Leadership College.
