Arbor Day is an annual observance celebrated as a special day for planting trees.
Founded by J. Sterling Morton in Nebraska in 1872, this idea for Arbor Day celebrates the role of trees in our lives and promotes tree planting and care. Today, Arbor Day is celebrated in all fifty states where people are learning the importance of trees in our lives.
Cuyahoga Falls designates the last Friday in April as Arbor Day where each year a special tree planting ceremony is held honoring a facet of the city that has made a significant impact on our community. Along with the program, a school is selected by the Cuyahoga Falls Tree Board to participate in an Arbor Day Contest where prizes are awarded to the students.
The City's Annual Arbor Day festivities are held to create awareness of trees with the purpose to involve all citizens to contribute to the celebration of trees, what they do for us and what we can do for them.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend this annual ceremony.

The entrance to the arboretum is located within Kennedy Park across from the Water Works Family Aquatic Center.
