The Outdoor Warning System consists of seven sirens strategically located throughout the city. In the event of activation, the siren will sound for three minutes.
When the sirens are activated, the public should listen to local radio, television, or the National Weather Service for information as to the nature of the activations. Do not call 9-1-1. The 9-1-1 operators need to keep the phone lines open for emergencies. There is no “all-clear” signal or sound given over the siren system.

When will our Outdoor Warning System be activated?
The siren may be activated for any of the following events:
- Severe weather, such as tornadoes or damaging thunderstorms
- Chemical spills
- Amber alerts
- Other extreme emergencies
Conditions are favorable for a tornado. Listen to your radio or television for further details. Be prepared to move to a safe place.
A tornado has been sighted and is imminent. Move to a safe place immediately when a Tornado Warning is issued.

Who can trigger an activation?
The City of Cuyahoga Falls 9-1-1 Communications Center will activate the system. They will receive information from the National Weather Service, city and other government officials.
The siren system for the City of Cuyahoga Falls will be tested:
- 10:00 AM on the first Thursday of every month
- The sirens will be sounded for 30 seconds.
