Works closely with the Human Resources Department to monitor and fulfill the hiring needs of the city. The commission is responsible for ensuring that individual fitness and merit serve as the basis for appointment and promotion within the classified service of the city.
Most full-time positions are filled through the Civil Service Commission’s open-competitive examination process, including Firefighter/Paramedic, Police Officer, and Apprentice Lineman, to name a few.
