Mayor Don Walters is proud to announce that the City of Cuyahoga Falls Department of Community and Economic Development has received an additional Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) award for COVID-19 relief and is opening a second round of CDBG funded short-term working capital assistance grants to small businesses located throughout the city.

“Our small businesses are the lifeblood of our local economy and they have made incredible sacrifices during the COVID-19 pandemic,” stated Mayor Don Walters. “These CDBG grants will help our businesses continue their operations as we continue to navigate this public health crisis.”

Applications will be accepted beginning Monday, September 7, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. through Friday, September 25, 2020, at 5:00 pm. Funds are limited and will be given on a first-come, first served basis to businesses who return a complete application. For an application to be considered complete, all required documentation must be submitted with the application. The City must cap this funding at $100,000.00. To qualify, businesses must meet the following criteria:

  • Primary place of business MUST be located in the City of Cuyahoga Falls
  • Be a small business as defined by HUD and the SBA
  • Have not previously received COVID-19 assistance from the City of Cuyahoga Falls or the Greater Akron Chamber
  • Must create and/or retain 1 permanent part-time job for a low-to-moderate income individual
