The City of Cuyahoga Falls is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Foreman in the Street and Sanitation Department.

Job Objective
Plans, supervises and coordinates all operations and crew assignments relating to the Street Division and the collection of solid waste and recycle materials relating to the Sanitation Division. Supervises all Street Department crews, Route Leaders, Refuse Collectors, part-time employees, and temporary employees.

Minimum Qualification
Graduation from High School or GED equivalent is required; at least 10 years of experience in a Street or Sanitation department or division is also required; and 2-years of supervisory experience is preferred. Or, any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and the ability to maintain continuing eligibility under the existing City driver eligibility standards. A valid Class B Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) with tanker endorsement is required. 

Candidates must be a non-smoker and non-tobacco user, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, snuff, etc. for the duration of their employment with the City of Cuyahoga Falls.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in street repair, maintenance, construction, and the collection of solid waste and recycle; occupational hazards; and safety precautions used in the field.

Skilled in the use of motorized vehicles and equipment including familiarity with various trucks used in Street and Sanitation fleets, utility trucks, tow motors, common hand and power tools, mobile or portable radio and power washer. Skilled at using computer, printer, and fax/scan machines. Excellent human relation skills and verbal and written communication. Demonstrated skill in planning, organizing, and directing; as well as effective human relations.

Ability to supervise competently; direct the work of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers; effectively deal with the public; understand and follow detailed and complex instructions; and work under varying weather conditions. 

Additional Information
Starting annual salary is $63,351. After 5 successful years in the position, the annual salary is $84,011.
The typical workweek is Monday – Friday; 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. This is a non-exempt; non-bargaining position.
