Mayor Don Walters is proud to welcome Cuyahoga Falls Fest back to downtown Cuyahoga Falls on Saturday, April 30, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Sheraton Suites Akron/Cuyahoga Falls located at 1989 Front Street. 

 

“Cuyahoga Falls and the Cuyahoga River are destinations for outdoor enthusiasts,” stated Mayor Don Walters. “Recreational opportunities in our area continue to grow, and we are thrilled to welcome the Fest back to downtown Cuyahoga Falls.”

 

“The Cuyahoga Falls Fest is a fun-for-all event where we invite spectators and paddlers to celebrate the river with us in downtown Cuyahoga Falls,” stated event organizer Don Howdyshell. “Our objective is to showcase the wonderful urban atmosphere that gives a perfect mix of water recreation and local businesses within walking distance.”

 

According to the Cuyahoga Falls Fest website, the event is for paddlers and spectators. Paddlers are encouraged to focus on whitewater within their skill level and form their groups, gear, safety plans, and shuttle logistics. The primary location is the Cuyahoga River Upper Gorge section between River Front Park and Front Street Bridge. Backup locations are mentioned to cover a range of paddler skills and inclement weather or fluctuating water levels. Updates will be provided on the Cuyahoga Falls Fest Facebook page. 

 

Primary Paddle Location:

Cuyahoga River Upper Gorge (Sheraton Section) - Class IV-V+ (water flow-dependent)

 

Secondary Locations: 

Tinkers Creek - Class IV-V+

East/West Falls Black River - Class V

Cuyahoga River Lower Gorge - Class II-III

Cuyahoga River Water Trail - various Class I-III
