Cuyahoga Falls City Council welcomed new Ward 4 City Council Representative Joe Siegferth III at its meeting on May 1. The vacancy was created when previous Ward 4 Councilwoman Mary Nichols-Rhodes was appointed to fulfill an unexpired at-large term created by the resignation of Tim Gorbach on April 14.

Per the city charter, the central committee of the party of the vacating member appoints a replacement to an unexpired term. Accordingly, the Democratic Central Committee members residing in Cuyahoga Falls voted to appoint Nichols-Rhodes to the at-large position on April 18. Siegferth was appointed to fulfill Nichols-Rhodes' unexpired term on April 28. Nichols-Rhodes and Siegferth were sworn into their new posts by Mayor Don Walters on April 24 and April 28, respectively. Both the Ward 4 and at-large terms expire on December 31.
