Mayor Don Walters announces that the City of Cuyahoga Falls will celebrate National Arbor Day with the annual program on Friday, April 29, at 4:00 p.m., at the Cuyahoga Falls Arboretum within Kennedy Park. The entrance to the Arboretum is at 2028 Munroe Falls Avenue, across from Water Works Aquatic Center. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Each year, the City plants a tree to recognize an individual or organization of Cuyahoga Falls that has made a significant impact on our community. This year, we will be honoring Blossom Music Center.

Along with the program, the City selects one of our schools to participate in an Arbor Day Contest. The Arbor Day theme this year was “Blossoms for our Future.” The 5th grade classes at Woodridge Elementary School were chosen this year to participate in a collage-making contest. The projects were judged by the Tree Board Members, who awarded the Grand Prize to Deborah Campbell’s class and two Honorable Mention awards to Julie Cole and Leslie Hampshire and their classes. The winning class and their families are invited to this celebration, where they will receive certificates and other prizes from the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department and Pav’s Creamery.

Additionally, the Tree Board is proud to announce a new partnership with Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy as they work toward becoming an Arbor Day Foundation certified “Tree Campus.”

"CVCA is excited to provide even more opportunities for students to explore our beautiful campus through experiential learning.  We are extremely blessed to be able to partner with the City of Cuyahoga Falls, stated Paul Charvat, CVCA Science Department Head. “We feel that the Tree Campus program will have a tremendous impact on our students as they learn about the diversity and preservation of the creation around us.”
