The City of Cuyahoga Falls Announces the Cancellation of Summer Events

Apr 24, 2020

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, the City of Cuyahoga Falls has extended the cancellation of city-sponsored events and programming through the summer season.

"Following the guidance of Governor DeWine and state and local health officials, we have made the difficult decision to cancel large-scale public gatherings scheduled for spring and summer 2020," stated Mayor Don Walters. "The health and safety of our residents and visitors to our city are our priority. We look forward to the time when we can safely gather together as friends and neighbors."

The canceled events and programs include:

    • Falls Downtown Fridays
    • Farmers' Market in the Falls
    • Flicks on the Falls
    • Keyser Concert Series
    • Kids' Carnival
    • Mobile Rec Park Schedule
    • Safety Town
    • Touch a Truck

Additionally, the Riverfront Irish Festival, scheduled for June 12-14, and Festa Italiana, planned for July 17-19, have been canceled per the recommendations of health officials.

"The well-being of our community is the main priority of the Riverfront Irish Festival and the City of Cuyahoga Falls as we announce the cancellation of our 2020 event," stated Michael Namsick, Chairman of the Riverfront Irish Festival. "We look forward to bringing the Riverfront Irish Festival back to Downtown Cuyahoga Falls in 2021."

"In the continuing effort to keep our community safe and healthy, Festa Italiana joins with the City of Cuyahoga Falls in announcing the cancellation of 2020 Festa Italiana," stated Festa Italiana Chairman Rick Sabo. "We acknowledge the strain that this puts on our vendors who rely on Festa, and the disappointment of those who attend this traditional event, but more importantly, we hope you and your families stay well and look forward to a dynamic 2021 Festa Italiana."

Parks and Recreation spring and summer adult and girls' softball leagues and youth tennis are canceled. Plans for virtual events and programming for the summer season are being developed. Schedules and updates will be available at www.cityofcf.com.

No final decisions have been made on the 2020 Water Works Family Aquatic Center season. Separate announcements will be made in the coming weeks and will follow guidance from the State of Ohio and Summit County public health authorities regarding outdoor aquatic facilities. Information regarding wading pools in the neighborhood parks will be included in that announcement.
