The City of Cuyahoga Falls is hiring a Full-Time Laborer to work in the Street Department. 

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be able to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance work and operate a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of street systems, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 85 pounds, and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the public.

Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent and some experience relating to construction, maintenance, or repair; or any equivalent combination of experience and education is preferred. 

Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and ability to maintain continuing eligibility under the City’s driver eligibility standards. Applicant also must possess a Class A CDL. If hired without having a CDL, the applicant is required to obtain one within the probationary period of 180 days.

The City of Cuyahoga Falls will provide hired applicants without a CDL the opportunity to obtain their CDL at Stark State College, pursuant to the terms and conditions outlined in the following document.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Some knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities is preferred. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; work safely; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; and understand and carry out written and oral instructions. 

Additional Information

Starting pay is $16.83 per hour. After 5 successful years in the position the pay rate is $19.23 per hour. This position has great potential for advancement at the City of Cuyahoga Falls.
