Mayor Don Walters is pleased to announce that the City of Cuyahoga Falls will host an inaugural Downtown Cuyahoga Falls Fire Truck Pull on Saturday, October 16, at 11 a.m. on Front Street. The 2021 Fire Truck Pull will benefit local food pantry, Pantry on the Corner.

Teams of up to 10 people will be challenged to pull a Cuyahoga Falls Fire Truck 40 feet in the fastest time. Registration is $250 per team or $25 per person for free agents who we will place on a team. All participants must sign a waiver of liability. Team check-in will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by the pulling contest at 11 a.m.

The event will also feature food trucks, music and announcements by 91.3 The Summit, and kids activities that will be provided by Mobile Rec through the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department. Event and team sponsorships are available. Donations to the Pantry on the Corner may be made online at https://www.journeycovchurch.org/donations by clicking on Downtown Cuyahoga Falls Fire Truck Pull or by check payable to Journey Covenant Church (memo line – fire truck pull) C/O City of Cuyahoga Falls, 2310 Second Street, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Additionally, donation bins will be on-site to collect nonperishable donations to the pantry – most needed items include canned soup and toiletry items (razors, shaving cream, shampoo, and conditioner).

“The inaugural Downtown Cuyahoga Falls Fire Truck Pull is an opportunity to bring the community together to witness friendly competition in the name of raising much-needed funds for our local charities,” stated Mayor Don Walters. “We are proud to partner this year with Pastor Jeanette and Pantry on the Corner to help them raise funds, collect non-perishable food items, and to bring awareness to the valuable services to families and individuals experiencing hunger.”

“The support of Mayor Walters and the Cuyahoga Falls community for the Pantry on the Corner has been amazing,” stated Pastor Jeanette Valentine, pantry manager. “All dollars raised through the pull will help us continue to serve our community safely.”

The Pantry on the Corner is located at 2679 North Haven Boulevard and serves more than 1,000 community members each month from tents in the Journey of the Covenant Church parking lot. Funds raised at the Downtown Cuyahoga Falls Fire Truck Pull event will go toward building a much-needed storage facility at the pantry to enable volunteers to continue to serve the community safely in all weather conditions. The Pantry on the Corner is a proud partner of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank serving the following zip codes: 44221, 44222, 44223, 44224, 44262, 44264, and 44278, Mondays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (closed on all Mondays that fall on holidays).

Front Street between Broad Boulevard and Portage Trail will be closed to traffic on Saturday, October 16, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
