Mayor Don Walters Seeks Qualified Candidates to Fill Boards and Commissions Vacancies

Mayor Don Walters is seeking qualified candidates who are willing to serve the City of Cuyahoga Falls on the following Boards and Commissions:

Board of Zoning Appeals – There is currently one vacancy on the Board of Zoning Appeals. The Board of Zoning Appeals is tasked with hearing appeals from individuals requesting exceptions or variances for city ordinances related to land use and building requirements, or from individuals who are questioning the validity of orders made by city officials. The Board of Zoning Appeals meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

Charter Review Commission – There are currently seven vacancies on the Charter Review Commission. The Commission reviews the municipal charter and recommend to Council amendments, if any. Council may submit to the electors any such proposed amendments to the Charter in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of Ohio. The Commission will meet 6 or 7 times on dates mutually convenient to the members. Meetings last roughly one to two hours.

Park Board – Deadline to apply is November 29, 2019. There is currently one vacancy on the Park Board for a term commencing January 1, 2020. The Cuyahoga Falls Park Board is the overseeing body of the Parks and Recreation Department. The five member board meets monthly on the second Thursday of each month at 5:00 PM in the Natatorium Community Wing.

Planning Commission – Deadline to apply is November 29, 2019. There is currently one vacancy on the Planning Commission for a term commencing January 1, 2020. The Cuyahoga Falls Planning Commission acts as the City's planning commissioner and maintains the City's master plan through the zoning map, land use controls, building/site design, land plotting, and street design and extension. The board meets twice monthly on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM in the Natatorium Community Wing.

Tree Board – There is currently one vacancy on the Tree Board. The Board shall study, investigate, advise, develop and/or update annually, a written plan for the care, preservation, pruning, planting, replanting, removal or disposition of trees and shrubs along streets and in other public areas not under the control of the Park and Recreation Board. The Tree Board meets quarterly based on the schedules of the Board Members.
