Fall Citizens Academy Announced by Area Police Department Chiefs

Aug 02, 2019

The Police Departments of Cuyahoga Falls, Munroe Falls, Silver Lake, Stow, and Tallmadge will jointly host the 2019 Citizens Academy from September 18 through October 30, 2019. The classes will be offered weekly from 7-9 p.m. and the location of the class will rotate throughout the municipalities. Citizens Academy classes are free to the public and are designed to give citizens a new perspective on police work.

Experienced police officers will guide participants through an overview of how local police departments operate in their respective communities. Each Citizens Academy student will have the opportunity to attend a scaled-down police academy where they will have hands-on learning opportunities with firearms simulators, legal issues, courtroom procedures, police canines, drug enforcement, medical examiner investigations, and traffic enforcement.
