Cuyahoga Falls 3-On-3 Basketball Tournament Seeking Players
Jun 27, 2019
Cuyahoga Falls Neighborhood Ambassadors are partnering with the City of Cuyahoga Falls and the Riverfront YMCA to organize the Third Annual Cuyahoga Falls 3-On-3 Basketball Tournament. The event will take place on Saturday, August 24, at 12:00 p.m., at Lions Park, 641 Silver Lake Avenue.
“The Cuyahoga Falls 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament was created to help bring people together in the park in the name of community and to celebrate the impressive athleticism of the players in our city and the surrounding area,” stated Neighborhood Ambassador and event organizer Alex Hall. “I am very excited for our third tournament and look forward to a fun day on the courts at Lions Park.”
Participation in the tournament has grown each year with six youth and eight adult teams competing in 2017, and more than 20 teams taking to the courts in 2018.
"The tournament is a wonderful example of our Neighborhood Ambassadors in action," stated Mayor Don Walters. “Alex and his team of fellow ambassadors and volunteers are truly dedicated to making this community event a success.”
Coed teams are encouraged to sign up to play in this officiated event. There is no entry fee to participate. Teams consist of four persons including three players and one alternate and are placed in one of two brackets. The adult bracket is for ages 18 and over and the youth bracket is for ages 14 through 17. If a player is over the age of 17 but enrolled in high school, they are qualified to play on a youth team. Teams must submit a registration form no later than Friday, August 16.
Mayor Walters will challenge a willing spectator to a basketball shooting game of C-F-O before the championship game. Spectators are encouraged to come and cheer on the players.
Volunteer opportunities include: referees, scorekeepers, timekeepers, and set-up or tear down crews.
