City of Cuyahoga Falls and Summit Metro Parks Partner for Winter Ice Skating Events

Dec 19, 2017

Mayor Don Walters is proud to announce a partnership between the City of Cuyahoga Falls and the Summit County Metro Parks for free ice skating events at Gorge Metro Park, 1160 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls.  Weather permitting, the City of Cuyahoga Falls will have a limited number of ice skates available to borrow at no cost to visitors.  The events will run from noon to 4 p.m. on the following Saturdays: December 30, 2017, January 13, 2018, and February 10, 2018. Ice skating is only possible under the right weather conditions.  Please call 330-865-8060 to learn if winter sports areas are open.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Summit Metro Parks this season to provide opportunities for our residents and visitors to go ice skating here in Cuyahoga Falls,” stated Mayor Don Walters. “As excitement builds around the re-opening of Front Street, we are thankful that we can provide an alternative location this year for our ice skaters and look forward to welcoming them back downtown next winter.”

"We're grateful for this partnership which will help us connect more visitors to memorable outdoor experiences in the Metro Parks," said Lindsay Smith, marketing coordinator for the park district.

The City of Cuyahoga Falls is not offering ice skating this season due to construction on the Downtown Transformation Project. Summit Metro Parks invites skaters who have enjoyed using the city’s rink to visit the Gorge instead.  The City of Cuyahoga Falls will reopen a new ice skating rink in Downtown Cuyahoga Falls in late 2018.
