The Police and Fire Departments of Cuyahoga Falls are once again inviting the community to watch as they square off in the seventh annual charity basketball game. The fun gets underway as gates open at 6:00pm; tipoff at 7:00pm. This family-friendly matchup is taking place at the Cuyahoga Falls High School gym, located at 2300 4th St. Proceeds from Battle of the Badges benefit the Falls Cancer Club, a nonprofit volunteer organization that helps support Cuyahoga Falls cancer patients by providing durable medical equipment and financial assistance for their medical, doctor, hospital, lab and pharmacy bills. Last year, Team Police won the game 49-35 and secured their third straight title and a 4-2 series lead. Police Chief Jack Davis says the police department is glad to help out the Falls Cancer Club. “The police department is once again excited to be a part of this fundraising effort for such a wonderful charity. The games are exciting and we look forward to playing with our good friends over at the fire department. We promise to take good care of the trophy as it continues to be in our possession.” Fire Chief Paul Moledor strongly believes in the positive impact of this annual event. “The Fire Department is looking forward to the game that will benefit such a great organization like the Falls Cancer Club. The Falls Cancer Club touches so many lives in a positive manner that only they can do. The game will help generate funds to allow the Falls Cancer Club to do their good works. It will be a fierce battle with our police friends to return the trophy to the Fire Department. Everyone come out and support the Fire Department and help generate funds for the Falls Cancer Club.” The fans (especially the kids) will have an opportunity to join in the fun during period breaks with a free throw and a half-court shot competition. There will also be a small hoop on the court for the little ones.
